Maricruz (Adela Noriega) and Beatriz (Thalía) are classmates and best friends, although Maricruz is poor and Beatriz is of a wealthy family. They are both 14 and excited about their quinceañera parties and growing up to become women. Pancho (Ernesto Laguardia), a mechanic's apprentice, and Memo (Sebastián Ligarde), a gang tough, are attracted to Maricruz. Maricruz accepts the love of Pancho; Memo drugs Maricruz and makes her believe he raped her so she will break up with Pancho. At the same time Gerardo, Maricruz's brother, starts dating Beatriz upon the pressure that Maricruz's mother has put on their children to attempt to escalate in society. Beatriz gets pregnant and the girls realize that the passing to womanhood was not what they expected.[1]
